Redevelopment of the Herston Hospitals complex means new
hospitals that provide service appropriate to the 21st century,
incorporating sophisticated information technology systems
and equipment. As the major teaching hospital of tomorrow it
will have an integrated network of services linked through-out
Australia and South East Asia. Staff Linked with the assistance of
new technology, in the new hospital will be working in cooperation
and conjunction with doctors, clinics and hospitals through-out
the world.
The new facilities have been designed to allow modifications.
With work practices expected to continue to change, the facility is
adaptable. Hospitals of the past have not lent themselves to such
major modifications, but the new Herston design emphasises
flexibility.
