The Eastern Plaza is a vital part of the government’s multi-million dollar upgrade of the Melbourne Park sporting precinct. It will incorporate key features including a sporting campus with indoor and outdoor world class tennis training facilities and a new piazza-style public space for fans and visitors. This includes 8 new indoor courts and 13 new outdoor courts. Also incorporated into the design will be a pedestrian bridge over Olympic Boulevard completing a direct link between MCG, Melbourne and AAMI parks. This project will encourage and assist the junior tennis development programs throughout the year and provide the best facilities for the stars of the Australian Open in January. It provides 1000 spaces for cars and 30 for buses along with an upgraded Western entry to Hisense arena.
