An innovative concept to combine scientific research directly with education programmes. This facility comprises research laboratories, conference centre, shop, bank, cafeteria, science education centre, museum and a garden atrium.
The atrium gives the building an introspective, winter-garden configuration and a focus for public activities. The ground floor accommodates the laboratory areas and shops and the second level contains an elegant café that provides access to the conference area and other facilities. The café exploits views of the central business district to the east. The atrium contributes to the passive environmental design feature of the building.
