Daryl Jackson’s built works, together with his considerable teaching, writing and lecturing has had a significant influence on the course of Australian architectural development. In 1990, the public recognition of the quality of his services to architecture resulted in the conferring of an Order of Australia and an Honorary Fellowship of the American Institute of Architects.

With his extensive participation in various significant cultural organisations, including positions as Chairman of the Australian Film Institute, Trustee of the National Gallery of Victoria and Member of the Victorian Council of the Arts, Vice President of the Melbourne Cricket Club and President of Wesley College, Daryl Jackson has continually contributed to a heterogeneous notion of Australian culture.

Peter Cole

Peter’s early architectural experience was gained in five different architectural practices including a two year period working in London and he has travelled extensively and regularly through Europe, Asia and North America since this time. Peter has gained particular experience and expertise in the design of sporting and recreational facilities and has tutored in design at the University of Melbourne

During more than twenty years in this practice Peter has been Project Architect responsible for managing every phase of a wide range of projects including a key role as Project Design Architect on the MCG’s Great Southern Stand, Colonial Stadium at the Docklands and currently the redevelopment of the remainder of the MCG.

These projects have given Peter a solid grounding in Sports Buildings to which he is now a recognised expert, particularly with respect to Stadium design, sports halls and swimming pools.

Colin Wilson

Colin has worked in a varied range of projects, both as Architect and Project Manager. He has worked extensively in Australia and Overseas.

He has highly developed people and managerial skills including team establishment, design management and project delivery.

Colin has a sound knowledge of design and construction, and strong technical communication and advocacy skills.

Colin has experience in all forms of project delivery, in particular Public, Private Partnerships. Having worked internationally, in often difficult environments, Colin has a keen interest in translating difficult social and community objectives into design solutions.

Robin Dyke

Robin Dyke worked with Harry Seidler & Associates before receiving the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Silver Medal as the top architectural graduate in Australia. In 1978 he established his own practice, and received an RAIA Merit Award in 1983 for the Hampden Court Apartment building. He joined Daryl Jackson as Senior Architect in 1982, and became a partner and Director in 1985.

This commitment begins with a thorough pragmatic analysis of the client’s brief and planning options. His ability to conceive of space in three dimensions and a skill of clearly conveying his ideas on paper has assisted clients and the consultant team to appreciate the potentials in many projects.

He has experience across a wide body of building types ranging from multi-storey residential apartment blocks to environmentally sensitive riverside cabins and community building for Kosciusko-Thredbo National Parks and Wildlife, as well as Olympic Sports facilities and high rise office buildings.

Tim Jackson

Timothy Jackson is a director of the practice whose skills in conceptual design and design stages have been developed over a wide range of projects. Tim has traveled extensively in Europe and the USA. He is a respected, capable and creative designer who is a valuable asset on any project team.

In addition to his role at Jackson Architecture, Tim is also a director of Jackson Clements Burrows, a young practice specialising in residential projects.

Alastair Swayn

Alastair Swayn is the Director responsible for the initial planning, building audits and adaptive re-use of projects, and is responsible for project undertaken in the Australian Capital Territory.

Alastair Swayn was born in Scotland. Before migrating to Australia, Alastair travelled widely in Europe, Canada and South Africa.

In 1973 he moved to Australia to work in Sydney with Collard Clark and Jackson and joined Daryl Jackson Pty Ltd in 1979 to become the site architect for the McLachlan Office project situated on National Circuit in ACT. In 1981 he was appointed Manager for the Canberra Office, enabling him to take full responsibility for the organisation of all projects in the Canberra area.

David Trott

David Trott is a Director of Jackson Architecture responsible for projects undertaken in Queensland and the Northern Territory. He has over thirty years of experience in the building industry and is responsible for the management, design implementation, documentation and administration of projects.

David joined the Melbourne office of Daryl Jackson Pty. Ltd. in 1978 and re-located to the Gold Coast in 1988 to establish and manage the Queensland office and principally undertake the development of the Bond University.

Lincoln Barker

Lincoln Barker joined the practice in 1990 and became a Principal in 2006. He managed the London office for five years, with responsibility for building the practice and managing projects. His current focus in the Melbourne office includes the continual growth of Jackson Architecture’s presence in the international market balanced with a strong commitment to Australian based projects, particularly sporting and residential.

Geraldine Maher joined Daryl Jackson Interiors in 1995, after
gaining extensive experience overseas, and as the leader of the Team at Jackson Interiors, Geraldine has seen a variety of projects to fruition.

Geraldine’s excellent design and planning skills have consistently
proven to be a powerful asset, particularly in retail, office and
court facilities. Her dedication to pushing the design envelope

Gary Carter

Gary Carter is an Principal of Daryl Jackson Pty Ltd. In his 15 years with the practice he has had a responsible role in all phases of project development, from masterplan design through to construction.

Gary has over 30 years experience in the building industry and has been responsible for the delivery of some of Queensland’s most highly acclaimed projects. These include the Concert Hall in the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the State Library of Queensland, and Brisbane Cricket Ground (the Gabba).
Gary has particular experience in design implementation, construction detailing, and project delivery.

Alex Stephanou

Alex Stephanou provides leadership to large, complex
commercial and multi-purpose projects since joining Jackson
Architecture in 1995. He has demonstrated team leadership
on the Southern Cross Station redevelopment, the Victorian
County Court and Docklands Stadium.

Alex enjoys the process of ‘developing major projects
that reshape our cities, and contribute positively to our
communities’.

Huan Borland

Huan Borland has architectural experience spanning 20 years and has played a vital role in delivering large scale projects with
tight programmes and budgets. She is a valued member of the
Jackson Architecture team bringing a high level of focus and
technical skill to each project.

Huan believes great architecture derives from developing
solutions to complex issues, that appear simple in their resolution.

Stewart Lock

Stewart joined Jackson Architecture after graduating from
RMIT in 2001, having already completed an Associated
Diploma of Architectural Drafting in 1997. His thorough
understanding of design and documentation processes,
and excellent attention to project cost control continue to
deliver value to the practice and, most importantly, our clients.
Stewart has made a significant contribution to the design and
documentation phases of the Rowville Community Centre and the
Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre projects and has provided valuable
support to the Project Architect with contract administration.

Stewart played a key role in the team that delivered our winning design for the community sport and recreation precinct for the City of Clayton that includes a 50 metre pool, library and health and child facilities.

Alistair Lucas

Alistair Lucas returned to Australia and joined Jackson Architecture late in 2004 after working in Kuala Lumpur. His design and documentation, and excellent presentation skills have made an important contribution to a significant number of Jackson Architecture design submissions and client presentations, on projects of diverse scope and scale. He seeks to deliver the highest design and presentation quality for our clients.
Alistair is ‘excited about pushing the boundaries to create architectural form that is harmonious within its physical environment, and most importantly, invites people to interact with the spaces’.

Vic Benakovic has extensive architectural experience spanning
some 28 years both locally and internationally, having held vital
positions in the design, documentation and delivery of large scale
and complex projects. With a passion for specialised health and
research design, his ability to manage the client and their needs,
leading the design response, and co-ordinating the design
consultancy team and an intimate and thorough expertise in
construction techniques, has enabled him to successfully deliver
complex projects and programmes.

Wuff Keeble

Wuff Keeble joined Jackson Architecture in 2006 bringing a
depth of interior design skill developed in senior roles on major
projects.
Wuff's project experience has focused on tourism & entertainment,
commercial office fitout, and residential projects of medium to
large scale. She is committed to delivering interior spaces that
can be ‘enjoyed, and provide user comfort’. Wuff believes in ‘a
simplicity of design that maintains and enhances the architectural
integrity’ and enjoys developing a thorough understanding of
the client’s brief to allow ‘identification’ with the delivered design
solution.

Peter Spanu

Peter Spanu, is a Senior Project Superintendent at Daryl Jackson
Pty Ltd. He has completed a Graduate Diploma in Facility Planning
and Management at the University of Melbourne, after completing
his Certificate in Architectural Technology at RMIT University.
Prior to joining the practice in 1988, Peter gained extensive
experience in the design and construction of hospital and educational
projects. Since joining the practice he has been extensively
involved in significant major projects such as 120 Collins Street,
MCG Southern Stand Redevelopment, The Royal Melbourne
Hospital Redevelopment, Crown Casino, Colonial Stadium and
Victorian County Court where he has provided a team leadership
and project professional role. Peter enjoys diversity of project work
where his inspiration is fuelled by the creativity of the practice and
the fact that each day delivers new opportunities and challenges.
Peter has recently delivered the Methodist Ladies’ College New Junior
School and Holden Ltd HFV6 Engine Plant Facility at Fisherman’s Bend.
His seniority and this vast all round experience in all facets of
Architecture has contributed to his successful contribution to the office
in the capacity of both a project superintendent and as a team leader

James Andrews

Daniel Beekwilder

Daniel Beekwilder is a Principal of Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke Pty Ltd. Prior to joining DJRD Daniel worked in the Newcastle office of the NSW Government Architect, and following graduation, with the Lend Lease Design Group, gaining experience in the design and documentation of a range of building types.

Daniel has been the Senior Project Architect on a number of major retail and health projects. He has broad experience in the design and detailing of buildings, and a demonstrated capacity to liaise with clients, project managers and authorities throughout schematic design, design development and contract documentation stages of medium to large projects.

James Hetherington

Daryl Jackson Alastair Swayn

James Hetherington is an Associate architect involved in design development and documentation of projects within the office. He is a talented young architect who commenced full time employment with DJAS in 2000.

James has been involved with the design, development and documentation of the Impulse Airlines Maintenance Facility, Canberra Airport Central Terminal refurbishment and Brindabella Innovation Centre. Most recently he has been Project Architect on CIT Electrotechnology Fyshwick Campus, CSIRO Agribusiness consilidation, the Majura Park Offices, CSIRO Entomology Biosciences Laboratories.

Other major projects have included No 8 & 10 Brindabella Circuit, Canberra Airport.

Scott Hodgson

Scott Hodgson began his architectural career with Jackson Architecture as a student and graduate. Mid way through 2006. He returned to Australia and re-joined the team at DJAS after five years working in the United States. His experience has involved a variety of projects including educational, sport, office, aviation, civic and defence buildings.

Scott has considerable experience in client briefing, design development, contract documentation and construction administration and is a valued staff member.

Michael Tolhurst

As an Associate, Michael has over 10 years experience working at DJAS and other interstate firms. Michael joined DJAS to perform the role of site architect for the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Services Hub project, and has since completed additional projects for the AIS. Michael's experience includes client briefing, design development, contract documentation and construction administration.

Gilda Donegan is a Senior Associate with Daryl Jackson Pty Ltd, and is responsible for a diverse range of projects from initial design phases through to project completion. Andrew Hipwell

Andrew joined the practice in 1988 and has developed his knowledge and experience in the capacity of Project Architect. He has a proven ability to design buildings across a wide range of types from commercial, education, multi residential and masterplanning.

Having been seconded to the Melbourne and Canberra offices, Andrew has first hand experience of the national practice. Working across the range of building types DJRD has undertaken, Andrew has gained crucial skills in briefing, design, documentation and construction stage advice.

Andrew has worked on many feasibility and Conceptual Master Plan projects such as the three Sydney Olympic Games stadia, Prince of Wales Hospital Master Plan and the DA for the Sydney GPO Master plan (1887 Heritage building).

Commercial/entertainment buildings include the Hordern Pavilion and Fox Studios, schemes for major office buildings at Ryde and Green Square and the Digital headquarters at Rhodes (now HP). Residential experience includes the Pyrmont, Rushcutters Bay apartments, Student Housing and snowfield lodges.

Jim Russell

In July 2002 Jim joined Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke specifically to lead the design and documentation team for the redevelopment of the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.

Jim has extensive experience in the areas of design, design development, and documentation of large buildings including health, community buildings, commercial and residential.

Since joining DJRD he has worked on the $80m Stage 1 Building of the St Vincents Biomedical Research Precinct. Currently he is working with the team for the $95 million Advanx Mixed Use development in Rushcutters Bay.

Geoffrey Rex

Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke

Geoffrey Rex is a senior landscape architect and architect with considerable local and international experience and specialist experience in master planning and urban design. He has been involved at a senior level over the past twenty five years in projects in Australia, Hong Kong, China, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea and the Middle East. Projects range from new towns, university campuses, hospitals, city parks and recreation schemes, large scale housing and resorts. Geoffrey has directed large scale multi-disciplinary projects for both the private and public sectors and has been able to achieve successful outcomes in complex political and cultural situations. Several of the projects with which he has been associated have received awards.

At Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke, Geoffrey has recently led the team for the Redevelopment of the Central Depot at the Royal Botanic Gardens which has required the resolution of complex historic issues. Ongoing masterplanning, architectural and landscape work at Lake Crackenback Resort near Thredbo involves the upgrading and extension of the resort within constraints of indigenous archaeology, bushfire, ecology, permissive occupancy and sewerage disposal.

Anna Harris

Anna is a senior design and project architect and has managed a number of residential, commercial and community projects. As project architect, Anna has managed individual residents, multi residential schemes and also worked as part of a team for the design and documentation of large scale multi-storey apartments.

Anna also has experience in community and commercial developments. Her work includes the design, documentation and administration of several community centres and school projects, with the provision of sports facilities, gymnasiums, child minding services, administration facilities and public halls.

Anna’s responsibilities have covered all the aspects of architectural services. Working with DJRD architects, she has displayed strength in dealing with clients, developing brief requirements and design resolution and has worked closely with builders and developers in achieving designs and the realization of projects.

Peter Lean

Peter Lean is the IT/CAD Manager of the Sydney office. With 22 years experience in CAD, Peter has the ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently on large scale projects.

Prior to joining Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke Architects in 2001, Peter was in a CAD Management role with SOCOG and OCA (Olympic Coordination Authority). During this period a close relationship with Australian Architects and Authorities was formed. Prior to the Olympics, Peter worked for both private and public companies on projects such as the Sydney International Airport Expansion and various government architectural projects.

He brings with him a wealth of knowledge on CAD project structures, computer animation and graphics. With expertise in many of the major graphics packages, almost any request can be achieved efficiently for high quality, compelling images.

Donna Paredes

Donna joined Daryl Jackson Alastair Swayn in Canberra in October 2005 as a Senior Architect after moving from Sydney where she had considerable experience in a multitude of projects including a $40 million commercial fitout for Centrelink.

She has since returned to Sydney and started at Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke in March 2007.

Donna is an Associate and Assistant Project Architect handling the production & QA on the $400 million dollar retail Charlestown Square Redevelopment project. She has also taken on a QA management role for the office as a whole.

Donna has previous experience as Project Architect on a number of multi unit residential development, commercial, retail and interior design projects from design concept through to completion.

Glenn Holmes

Glenn is now a Principal after being the Director of Development and Interiors at Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke and has over 25 years of experience in interior design.
Before joining DJRD, Glenn was the Managing Director of Design Department Pty Ltd for 19 years, as well as being the Senior Design Technician and Project Coordinator of several major hospitality and casino projects from 1982-1987. He was also one of four Sydney designers selected to provide interior design concepts for the Sydney Opera House.
Glenn focuses on providing a service that reflects and embraces the individual nuances of the project, bringing years of experience and knowledge to the fore to generate the best possible result.
He has worked on Hospitality projects such as the Regent of Sydney, providing the preliminary refurbishment layouts as well as work on the Ballroom and Pre-function area refurbishment. He has provided design and interiors work for the Hilton Hotel chain for both their Brisbane and Cairns locations, as well as for the ANA Hotel in Sydney for which he did the refurbishment for the Horizons and the Harlequin room. Currently he is leading various ANSTO Design Concept projects as Project Director

Vino Mudaly

Vino is a Senior Associate and joined DJRD with 13 years experience in Research, Healthcare, and Commercial facilities. He has extensive experience in the design and documentation of complex, specialized facilities where his attention to detail and strong project administration skills have proved significant in the delivery of projects both on time and within budget. Vino has worked across a variety of industries nationally and abroad giving him exposure to various scientific institutions, regulatory and practice systems.
Vino has acquired indepth experience and knowledge in PC2, PC3 and PC4 laboratory and animal research environments, including planning for Pharmaceutical ‘cleanroom- grade A, B, C, & D’ facilities design. His role as Senior Architect in complex projects include: The Westmead Hospital PC4/QC4 Anti-Bioterrorism facility, functioning primarily as a forensics centre developing strategies through research to identify and counteract substances produced with malicious intent.
As a specialist Architect his task involves undertaking initial briefing, project compliance review, feasibility studies, programme development, solving complex design problems associated with specialist facilities, development of detailed documentation, tender analysis and assessment, project peer review, contract negotiations and project administration.
